Well let’s see it all actually started with my youth. I grew up showing and breeding Bearded Collies with my mom. She would take me from dog show to dog show and have me handle her dogs for her often. I also competed in Junior handling. We always had at least 5 adult dogs and a few litter of pups running around amongst the other various breeds of animals. It definitely was never boring. When I was 14 my mother bought a grooming business of her own and put me to work. That was over 25 years ago. Dogs have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I got away from grooming for a few years to start a family, then started working for a vet in the small town were I was living. I was able to wear many hats at the vet’s office and I learned a lot about animal behavior and took a few classes at Davis too. I bought my business 5 years ago and have recently expanded to the space next door. It has been a long hard road and I still have some things to finish in the shop but I'm not going anywhere. This is what I was meant to do. I LOVE MY JOB!! Dogs are some of the best people I know. |

Jackie has been with The Top Dog for a little over four years now. She is my right hand and it's horrible when she is gone. Jackie’s job is to make sure that your pets get nice and clean from the tip of their nose to the tip of their tails. She has two Dachshunds of her own Rosie and Blossom. They like to think that they are in charge when they come and hang out for the day in the shop. |

I have been grooming and showing dogs since I was 13. When I turned 15 as was able to get a workers permit I could not wait to get a job in the pet industry. I successfully landed at job at Hayward Pet Complex/Paula’s Penthouse as a bather. The owner was a master groomer and offered to teach me the ropes. It was not long before I was able to groom and run the shop all on my own. I love it! All of our clients and pets were great and I got to be around those who loved animals as much as I do. Right now I have about 10 years grooming experience and am still showing dogs. I breed and show Keeshonden and am a member of the Sierra Kees Club. Being young when I started working has given me the opportunity to experience all fields of the industry. I was a trainer at the SPCA, have run kennels, groomed for 2 major corporations and even have been an assistant to a professional handler. I have no doubt in my mind that this is what I will be doing for a long time. |

Hi my name is Shira, and I've been working at The Top Dog for over two years now. My responsibilities include handling the phones, helping clients, scheduling appointments, and drying/finishing dogs. At home I have 4 dogs of my own including a Miniature Pinscher, Basset/Wolf Mix, a Pitbull, and a Pitbull/Boxer mix. Not only do I enjoy working with dogs, my Co-workers are great too. They're always impressing me with their patience and great attitudes. We can always count on each other for a helping hand. Trust me, your dog is in GREAT hands at The Top Dog! |

My name is Jasmine. I’m one of the bathers here at Top Dog. I bathe, dry, clip nails and clean up the dog’s feet and face. I’ve been working here for almost a year. I love animals and working with the different personalities of the dogs. I always make sure every dog gets the best service by paying attention to every little detail. My job is making sure every dog feels comfortable and safe, and keeping our customers and their pets satisfied. The Top Dog is a place where your pet gets first class treatment. |
